Spotlight Book of the Month:
“Habakkuk: Praising God in Our Darkest Hour”
As if enough wasn’t happening in the world, in 2020 Pastor Olayinka Dada lost his younger brother. “It's not something we expected. It happened so suddenly,”. Pastor Olayinka is also a practicing physician. In the wake of a global pandemic, the word healing began to take on all kinds of forms.
Pastor of Restoration House, a parish of the Redeemed Christian Churches of God in Canada, He spent his days that year, toggling from church to hospital, offering a chance at peace and hope in both kinds of healing spaces. And he still had his own healing to do.
He wrote Habakkuk, Praising God in Our Darkest Hour in his darkest hours and this book has already brought light to hundreds of readers. “Complaining doesn’t do anything. We learn this from Habakkuk who went to God to complain not one, not two, but three times!” Dada goes on to challenge readers not to assume the healing they need is only natural, offering 1 Corinthians 2:14 as a powerful reminder. “The Creator of the Universe operates in His own class…” he continues. Dada encourages readers to take a closer walk with God and shows them just how to do it using all kinds of scriptural references, but especially the book and story of Habakkuk, the prophet as a very clear, very relatable case study for us all.
